Canary Islands UFO incident

On the night of June 22, 1976, numerous people in the Canary Islands reported a brilliant phenomenon over the Atlantic. Witnesses on several islands described a luminous object or expanding glow that changed form and illuminated a large area. One of the most detailed reports came from a physician traveling by taxi on Gran Canaria. The men saw a transparent or translucent sphere hovering near the coast. Inside, the doctor described two extremely tall, slender humanoid figures standing at what looked like a console. The sphere appeared to enlarge dramatically before rising or fading. Other observers, including military personnel and civilians, reported lights in the sky that night, although not everyone described the transparent sphere or occupants. The Spanish Air Force investigated and later released case documentation, giving the event an unusually traceable official record. A missile launch has been proposed as an explanation for the broad luminous display. High-altitude exhaust illuminated after sunset can produce expanding spheres and changing shapes visible across a wide region. That explanation addresses many mass-sighting features but does not independently verify the doctor's close occupant description, which may have involved perspective, optical effects or interpretation. The Atlas separates the widespread aerial phenomenon from the much narrower entity claim. An official investigation proves that reports were collected; it does not mean the Air Force confirmed a vehicle or beings. CE3 is retained because the physician's testimony describes figures apparently inside an anomalous object. The portrait centers the coastal viewpoint and luminous sphere, rendering the alleged figures only as indistinct silhouettes. It is an illustrative reconstruction, not documentary evidence.
