Case description
The Toquilla story places Iván Naranjo, his sister Consuelo, Hernán Gallego, Ulises Molano and driver Pineda in a Nissan Patrol in Boyacá. In the expanded account, dated 9 January 1990 around 6 p.m., small lights allegedly crossed the vehicle without damaging it. Its engine and lights failed. A huge, unstable disc approached, apparently about to fall, while Naranjo experienced muscular weakness.
A second disc supposedly stabilized the first with a dense white beam. Naranjo described two humanoids wearing opaline helmets and shiny, close-fitting coverings, plus a smaller robotlike form moving along a beam. Gallego separately described an unhelmeted, slender human-looking man with long chestnut-and-grey hair and a silver suit, who offered an inviting hand. The craft later disappeared amid fog and a whirlwind; witnesses claimed damaged vegetation, dried pools and unusual material afterward.
Available versions differ substantially: some give 24 January 1979, fewer travellers and three helmeted men. Patrick Gross reproduces the accounts but finds no available photographs, sample analysis or independently documented investigation establishing the dramatic claims. A reported later death is unverified. The plate is a labelled composite of the aerial repair and Gallego’s encounter; crew identity across those phases remains uncertain.
