Case description

At about 5:30 a.m. on July 19, 1988, two women were driving home near Johannesburg after having stayed awake late into the night. In the surviving summary, their journey changed when they noticed a bright light above the area. The light descended at what they described as tremendous speed, overtook their car, and was accompanied by a distinct clicking sound. That road encounter is the last clearly continuous part of the sequence. The next thing the women reportedly remembered was already being on a ramp leading into an object. Two small humanlike figures were said to assist them up the ramp. As the women entered, a white mist or vapor surrounded them. They described it as hot or burning and said it carried a lemon-like flavor or sensation. Beyond the mist was a bright white interior that seemed to sparkle. Porthole-like openings punctuated the room, and a tall metal table occupied its center. At least six beings—four described as male and two as female—were present. They were said to stand about four feet eight inches tall, with deeply tanned-looking skin, almond-shaped or slanted eyes, and little or no hair. All wore dark, close-fitting one-piece clothing with collars. The women said they were placed on the metal table and subjected to medical tests. The surviving catalogue gives no detailed sequence of those procedures, no instruments and no reported injuries, so the Atlas does not fill in that missing material. One female being reportedly greeted them in a high, sing-song voice and identified the group as coming from the Pleiades. Before releasing the witnesses, the beings allegedly offered predictions about future events, including a worldwide catastrophe. The available summary does not record the exact predictions, how the women were returned, where they reappeared, what time they arrived home, or what either woman did immediately afterward. The account entered the published record years later. Albert Rosales attributed it to South African researcher Cynthia Hind and her presentation in the 1993 MUFON Symposium Proceedings—about five years after the alleged event. The witnesses remain anonymous in the material reviewed here. No verbatim statement, investigation report, regression transcript, medical documentation, vehicle examination, map, physical trace, photograph or witness-approved drawing is available in the accessible file. Even the route and exact location near Johannesburg are unspecified. Those omissions are especially important because the source does not say whether the onboard sequence was a continuous conscious memory or emerged during hypnotic regression. Patrick Gross's URECAT review notes that many comparable narratives developed under suggestive hypnosis, but it does not document that process for these women. It therefore remains possible that the summary compresses conscious observations, later recollection and interpretation into a single seamless account. The Pleiades origin and unfulfilled global-catastrophe warning are also familiar motifs in contactee literature rather than independent verification. The Atlas preserves the narrative because it is a clearly described CE4 claim, while keeping its evidence status visible. The portrait presents the car and descending light as the solid foreground and the ramp, mist and white chamber as a softer memory montage. It includes only the reported people, six short humanlike beings, portholes and central table. It does not portray invasive instruments, injuries or dramatic events absent from the source. This is a visual guide to the allegation—not evidence that the alleged transport occurred.
