Case description
The Altstetten story claimed that a resident walking near a sports ground on the evening of March 28, 1992 noticed an intense light and approached the soccer field. He reportedly saw something he interpreted as a spacecraft standing in its centre, hid behind a bush and watched seven small humanoid figures emerge.
The figures allegedly moved slowly across the turf as if inspecting it. After about two minutes, a flash occurred and the object departed silently. A woman was said to have noticed the flash, but the recovered source trail does not establish an independent interview or confirm that she saw the alleged craft and figures. Contemporary remarks attributed to police and a football-club representative treated the story dismissively or humorously.
The decisive source problem concerns the supposed witness sketch: the later Swiss catalogue identified it as a copy of an Eduard Meier drawing dated July 9, 1975. It consequently classified the episode as an April Fools prank, and Patrick Gross's source comparison reaches the same conclusion. The original local newspaper item has not been recovered. The plate reconstructs the published story under a prominent prank label, retaining seven indistinct figures but treating their appearance and the craft's outline as undocumented. It does not present a copied drawing as original witness evidence.
