Pilot Apraksin encountered a UFO similar to the one he observed in June 1948. When attempting to approach, a cigar-shaped object flying at an altitude of about 11 kilometers directed a bright beam at the plane. The pilot was temporarily blinded. The plane's electrical equipment failed, communications were lost, and the plexiglass glass was damaged, resulting in the cabin's seal being broken. Apraksin barely made an emergency landing on the Volga shallows, 40 kilometers north of Saratov, and lost consciousness. 7 days before this event, the newest jet fighter La-15 was first flown at the Saratov aircraft plant. In addition, in 1948-1949, rockets assembled according to V-2 drawings were launched from the Kapustin Yar and Krasny Kut missile ranges.
