Case description
The imported Tel Aviv entry gives 25 October 1949 and the surname Geller, citing Jacques Vallée’s The Invisible College. The cited book provides a detailed counterpart with a different date: 25 December 1949, when Uri Geller was said to have been three years old and playing in a garden. Vallée introduces the episode as material recalled during Andrija Puharich’s first hypnotic session with Geller on 30 November 1971. It is therefore a later hypnotic narrative, not a contemporaneous 1949 report or an established adult eyewitness encounter.
In that account, Geller recalled a large, shining bowl-shaped light above him and a huge radiant figure in the garden. No face could be made out within its brightness. The figure’s arms rose, and he described something like the sun held between its hands before losing awareness amid intense radiance. The episode became part of Puharich’s larger claims concerning an alleged intelligence called SPECTRA or Hoova. Vallée discussed those claims critically, drawing attention to their absurdities and the uncritical interpretation of supposed messages.
The month discrepancy should remain visible rather than be resolved by silently illustrating an October event. The book identifies Uri and describes a child; later generic catalogue wording cannot justify substituting an adult man or a mechanically detailed landed saucer. Nor does hypnotic recall independently establish the historical event, a physical injury or an extraterrestrial source for later claimed abilities. The plate follows the book’s radiant figure and bowl-shaped light as an explicitly labelled reconstruction of the 1971 recollection, with the child safely clothed and the extraordinary imagery treated as reported memory.
