Case description
The Guyancourt story is widely catalogued as a hoax, including Larry Hatch’s correction list. It is generally dated July 23 or 24, 1950, around 11 p.m., with Claude Blondeau as the central witness. A 1954 Var-Matin retrospective reproduces a simpler version. The original claimed admission and its circumstances were not independently recovered in this pass, so that limitation remains explicit.
As told, Blondeau encountered two low circular craft near the airfield, each about five metres across, with square rim openings. Two ordinary-sized men in dark flying clothes emerged and worked on one machine using a plate-like component. He allegedly approached, exchanged brief French conversation and glimpsed a lit cabin with a chair, controls and oval steering wheel. The machines then tilted or climbed away. Later versions disagree about where he first watched and the fluency of the exchange.
The plate reconstructs the published story under a prominent hoax label, including Blondeau, both men and both complete craft. It is an illustration of a disputed/fabricated narrative’s history, not evidence of a landing. Details of component shape, clothing, interior and airfield surroundings are illustrative. No generic nonhuman anatomy is substituted for the reported human-looking mechanics.
