Case description
The account concerns a woman identified as “Mary,” who placed an unexplained childhood incident in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, during the summer of 1950, when she was about seven. Thomas Bullard’s catalogue, citing pages 227–229 of Budd Hopkins’s Missing Time, says that she returned home after playing in a garden with a small cut on her leg. She did not know how it had happened and later associated a remaining scar with that episode. The catalogue does not supply contemporary medical documentation establishing its cause.
Hopkins investigated the account decades later. Dr. Aphrodite Clamar conducted hypnosis during 1978–1980, but Bullard explicitly records that it did not recover the missing event associated with the cut. Separately, Mary described nightmares continuing as late as 1980. In those dreams she saw a three-dimensional star map changing into a window, sensed a friendly voice speaking telepathically from behind her, and saw nonhuman figures in an unusual light.
Those distinctions matter: the star map, voice and figures belong to reported dream imagery, rather than to a clearly recalled encounter in the garden or to a successful hypnotic recovery. The checked source gives no reliable exterior craft description, detailed anatomy, witnessed boarding or independently documented examination. This record preserves a childhood memory gap and later dreams discussed within an abduction investigation; it does not establish that the small injury resulted from an extraterrestrial encounter. The illustration visualizes the dreams and is labelled accordingly.
