Maranguape entity encounter — 1950

Faustino Lima told journalist Bob Pratt that, when he was a teenager around 1950, he went into the mountains near Maranguape, Ceará, to collect bananas. He was walking ahead of an adult man and that man's son when he encountered a large, silvery object on the ground in broad daylight. He likened its shape to a flattened oval; sunlight reflected strongly from its surface. Beside it stood a very thin man and woman, each approximately six feet tall. Faustino described unusual, unattractive faces with eyes extending around the sides, long yellowish robes and arms full of branches. When he called to them, they looked toward him and hurried into the object. It departed with a sudden rush of air which, he said, almost knocked him down. The available account is Pratt's much later interview, published in UFO Danger Zone, rather than a recovered report from 1950. The year is approximate, and the companions' presence behind Faustino does not establish that they independently saw the close encounter. The narrative describes a powerful departure gust; the imported physiological-effects label should not be expanded into an undocumented injury, medical examination or abduction.
