Case description

Gemini's April–June 1972 issue preserves a May 1971 taped account by Reg Chapman, a middle-aged Lancashire man. It places his Winter Hill experiences probably in the late 1950s, with no exact year established. On an afternoon visit for quiet, he said a commanding figure resembling the Sandeman advertisement character appeared near his seat and communicated telepathically about personal matters he would not disclose. Returning later that day, Chapman reportedly saw a large horseshoe-shaped object hovering approximately a cricket-pitch length away. A similarly dressed visitor appeared at an aperture: black hair and beard, dark eyes and very pale skin. Another claimed mental exchange lasted several minutes. The figure then glided backwards, apparently diminishing like a receding projected image. The craft moved in a half-circle and vanished, leaving a curl of vapour. This recovered magazine account materially differs from the imported 1950/night/flatiron summary, which also compresses two meetings. The original article itself warns that earlier newspaper stories had mixed them together; those clippings were not recovered. The plate follows the magazine's second meeting and its horseshoe illustration. Chapman is the sole identified observer, and the reported communication is his interpretation rather than independently recorded dialogue.
