Case description
Contemporary March 12, 1950 newspaper coverage identifies Mrs Sam Raguindin as the Chualar driver who telephoned after the previous evening’s sighting south of Salinas, California. She was travelling with her mother and two children. The recovered United Press version places numerous calls shortly after 8 p.m.; a later catalogue’s 9 p.m. time should not be treated as exact agreement.
She initially thought the object was a falling star, then described it approaching her car and looking like two dinner plates joined together. Its strong bluish-white light hurt their eyes, and she estimated a height near two thousand feet. She said it appeared to loop before speeding south. Other local callers supplied different descriptions, including a bright front and fiery tail; those details should not all be assigned to her family’s view.
The newspaper’s playful little-men headline was not an occupant report. No beings, landing or vehicle interior were described. The plate includes the driver, her mother and two children inside the period car with one complete luminous object in the sky. Likenesses, car model, distance and disc profile are illustrative. Her interpretation of a manoeuvre remains testimony rather than measured trajectory evidence.
