Case description
The Frontenac digest matches William Squyres’s better-documented report near Pittsburg, Kansas. The imported listing gives 24 August 1952, but contemporary reporting and Project Blue Book Special Report 14 place it on 25 August. Squyres, a KOAM radio musician, was driving his Jeep station wagon to work around dawn on Yale Road near Frontenac. Published times vary from about 05:35 to 05:50. He stopped on the road when he noticed an object hovering above a field.
He estimated a dull aluminum appearance roughly seventy-five feet long, forty-five feet wide and fifteen feet thick, like two oval platters joined together. A blue-lit forward window showed a motionless man’s head and shoulders. Other windows showed indistinct activity. Around the rim were small, closely spaced objects he compared with propellers, rotating horizontally. It rocked slightly about ten feet above the ground, then rose vertically with a throbbing or fluttering sound. The official account says his artificial leg kept him on the roadside, contrary to later versions placing him much closer.
Police and Air Force inquiries followed, and Blue Book retained the case as unknown. Reports disagree over disturbed vegetation: the newspaper found no clearly preserved flattened patch, while the official synopsis mentions blown vegetation and unremarkable samples. No actual landing was described. The unknown classification does not establish extraterrestrial origin or the occupant’s identity. The plate therefore shows the hovering phase, humanlike silhouette and small rim devices without adding biological features or treating them as demonstrated propulsion.
