Case description
A young cowherd's 1953 account from Villares del Saz, Cuenca, became one of Spain's early humanoid-landing stories. Máximo Muñoz is variously named Muñoz Hernáiz or Muñoz Olivares and described as thirteen or fourteen. Spanish accounts commonly give July 1, while several English-language catalogues give July 2 or simply July. Those differences are retained rather than treating a catalogue date as established.
While watching cattle, the boy reportedly heard a whistle and found a grey metallic object shaped like an upright water jar nearby. Three short figures emerged. Descriptions give heights around sixty to seventy centimetres, sallow faces, narrow eyes, blue clothing, flat visored headgear and metallic patches on their arms. He could not understand their speech. One reportedly struck his cheek before the group returned through the upper opening. The object brightened, whistled and rose rapidly; the boy ran home frightened.
Later accounts attribute inspection of small footprints and four depressions to his father and the Guardia Civil, with additional people subsequently visiting the site. These are reported traces, not a surviving material identification of a craft. Separate regional sightings and photographs should not be presented as photographs of this encounter. The plate depicts the claimed gathering before departure without reenacting the slap. A verified Preston Dennett segment covers Máximo's case, although its July 2 date differs from the Spanish narrative.
