Case description
Lorenzo Flores, 18, and Jesús Gómez, 17, reportedly encountered a hovering object while hunting near the Trans-Andean Highway between Chirico and Cerro de las Tres Torres, outside Carora, Venezuela. Later English catalogues call the locality Chico and date the incident December 10, 1954. A reproduced El Nacional correspondent's telegram instead places their police report on December 9.
The telegram describes an object about three metres across, resembling two washbowls joined together, hovering approximately eighty centimetres above the ground with fire beneath it. Four roughly metre-tall, hairy figures allegedly tried to pull Gómez aboard. Flores said his unloaded shotgun broke when he struck them, and Gómez escaped during the struggle. They ran to the road, obtained a lift and reported the incident with torn shirts. Later versions add unconsciousness or more definite anatomical details that the reproduced testimony does not establish.
The published telegram names police personnel and attributes the discovery of a broken weapon, abandoned bicycles, marks and a sulphurous smell to their inspection. That is a reproduced report, not an independently examined police file or authenticated physical analysis. Its date and locality differences should remain visible alongside the familiar catalogue version. The plate shows the reported approach before violence: both hunters, four hairy figures and exactly one complete double-bowl craft.
