Case description

The Livorno entry concerns Bruno Senesi, described in contemporary reports as thirty-four, and an alleged frightening experience in October 1954. Catalogue dates vary: the familiar Vallée-derived account gives October 19, while a corrective HUMCAT note citing Francesco Izzo's Italian catalogue gives October 17 in the early morning. A press dateline or hospital report should not automatically be treated as the exact time of the supposed field encounter. The compressed narrative says Senesi saw two shining objects emitting smoke descend into a field and small red beings emerge and pursue him. The contemporary French reports concentrate on his arrival at a hospital seeking help, speaking about lights, smoke and Martians, and being found hiding under a bed. They provide much less consistent description of the objects or beings than later summaries suggest. Those newspapers used sensational and stigmatising psychiatric language. Their reported hospital episode does not supply a clinical record, establish a diagnosis in this review, or independently corroborate extraterrestrial visitors. There is no recovered detailed anatomy, measured craft configuration or named second eyewitness to the field scene. The plate therefore labels the claim uncorroborated, represents the luminous objects and figures without detailed invention, and keeps the hospital aftermath separate. Its small group of distant forms is illustrative rather than an asserted exact count; it does not reenact a chase or clinical distress.
