Case description
The Cardinali account is located more precisely in later Italian catalogues at Padule, near Castiglione della Pescaia, in coastal Tuscany. The imported label Northern Italy is therefore misleading. Ulderico or Ulderigo Cardinali, described as a farmworker, reportedly encountered the object early on October 24, 1954, around 6 a.m. Several Italian newspaper references are listed for October 26.
Cardinali allegedly heard a buzzing sound while on a meadow path and passed through or beyond a patch of morning mist. Among the marsh reeds he saw a small disc, estimated at only two metres across. Nearby was a figure approximately 1.4 metres tall in yellowish-brown coveralls, apparently occupied with something near the object. It then went inside. The object reportedly left rapidly, brushing the tops of the reeds and making a subdued buzzing sound.
The brief account does not provide a detailed face, demonstrated communication, a recovered device or an independently identified cause. Its catalogue estimates should not be treated as surveyed dimensions, and press references do not automatically represent additional eyewitnesses. The plate depicts the reported reed-bed scene before departure, with a simple small disc and the distinctive coverall colour. The marsh layout, facial appearance and the observer's likeness remain contextual, and the geographic correction does not add corroboration to the encounter itself.
