Case description
Renzo Pugina’s encounter is associated with Parravicino d’Erba near Como, Italy, in October 1954. Dates vary substantially: Vallée gives 20 October, while the fuller Italian-source synopsis favors shortly after midnight on the 18th; other references give the 14th or 15th. Pugina, thirty-seven, reportedly had put his car away and was near the steps of his villa when he noticed a glow and a strange figure.
The fuller account describes a figure approximately 1.3 metres tall whose upper body turned toward him and aimed a torch-like object. Its helmet had a transparent lower band, revealing a flattened-looking face, almond-shaped eyes, ordinary nose and mouth and a receding forehead. Scaly metallic clothing covered its upper body. Its lower portion appeared enclosed in a tube, with a thinner extension leading toward a horizontal bicycle-wheel-sized disc. The disc’s exact connection was uncertain. Pugina said he felt immobilized; the figure then rose and departed with a shrill or whirring sound.
Later digests add clenched keys, an attempted attack and an oily spot, while the fuller Italian-source version emphasizes his inability to move until departure, later anxiety and a fading mark. Those differences should remain visible rather than combined into a seamless physical demonstration. No separate large craft was observed. The plate therefore includes the unusual lower-body apparatus and source-specific helmet, avoiding a generic free-standing alien beside an invented saucer. The mark and claimed symptoms do not independently establish their cause.
