Case description
On November 1, 1954, Rosa Lotti Dainelli was walking toward church at Cennina, near Poggio d'Ambra, carrying flowers, shoes and stockings. She described a brown, leather-like spindle standing vertically in a clearing: two pointed cones joined at their bases, roughly two metres high, with lateral portholes and a lower glass door.
Two approximately metre-tall men approached, smiling and speaking an unfamiliar language. She described ordinary, older human faces, grey fitted clothes, buttoned jackets, short capes and leather-like helmets with ear discs. One took her carnations and a stocking and placed them inside; the open doorway revealed two small seats. He then held a brown cylindrical object toward her. Frightened, she hurried away and looked back to see both men still beside the object. She did not observe its departure.
Contemporary newspapers established the story's circulation, but detailed investigations came much later. Accounts disagree about the hour and whether some flowers were returned. A claimed hole and separate nearby aerial sightings do not independently establish the encounter. Alleged child witnesses and an anonymous hoax allegation also require qualification. The reconstruction follows Rosa's reported appearance and equipment rather than substituting generic grey aliens.
