Case description

A compact Italian report in NICAP’s 1954 chronology identifies the witness as a bus driver named De Rossi and the location as Quasso. The chronology dates it to 16 October 1954 and attributes the account to Jacques Vallée’s catalogue and the contemporary newspaper Il Tempo. References differ over the newspaper issue date. The imported spreadsheet itself originally lacked a usable day, so the October date comes from that secondary chronology rather than a recovered witness statement. De Rossi reportedly saw two objects. One made a pass at approximately treetop height and was compared to a spinning top. A small, gesticulating humanlike figure was visible underneath it. That is the substantive sequence preserved in the brief account. It does not describe the driver pursuing the objects, meeting the figure on the ground, exchanging words or being taken aboard. Nor does it provide a dependable vehicle diameter, observation duration, colour, propulsion mechanism or anatomical description of the figure. The surviving summary therefore supports a reported low aerial pass with an apparent human form, rather than an expanded landing or abduction narrative. The second object cannot be supplied with details borrowed from other Italian sightings during the same wave. The illustration presents both objects at different distances, leaving the second unresolved and the small figure’s face indistinct. The bus, landscape, lighting and witness likeness are contextual choices, not recovered photographs or an engineering reconstruction of a verified machine.
