Case description
NICAP’s 1954 chronology places this brief figure report at Roverbello, Italy, on 5 October. A fisherman allegedly encountered someone dressed in red who spoke a language he did not understand. When the fisherman called to his wife, the figure quickly left. The entry does not identify the fisherman, reproduce the speech or establish what the visitor intended.
No spacecraft is described. There is no recorded landing, aerial departure, vehicle, unusual anatomy or demonstrated connection between the figure and an object in the sky. Red clothing and unfamiliar speech are the actual distinguishing details in the surviving summary. The wife’s being called does not establish that she arrived in time to witness the figure or independently corroborated the encounter.
NICAP cites an unidentified newspaper clipping dated 7 October and Vallée’s catalogue entry 195, itself citing Quincy. Vallée’s text is especially short and supplies no additional descriptive evidence. The underlying clipping has not been examined here, so the date remains a secondary chronological attribution. The plate depicts the fisherman and a normally humanlike red-clad figure in a representative waterside setting, with no invented UFO or alien facial features.
