Case description
Willi Hoge, a cinema projectionist, reported an encounter near Rinkerode outside Münster during the night of October 9–10, 1954. A blue light in a field initially suggested an aircraft accident. Approaching to roughly sixty metres, he said he watched a cigar-shaped object hovering about one and a half metres above the ground for approximately ten minutes.
Four short figures were allegedly working beneath it. Contemporary reporting described broad bodies, large heads, thin legs and close-fitting clothing resembling rubber. Their faces were not resolved. Hoge said they eventually climbed a ladder into the object, which tilted and accelerated away diagonally. At a distance it appeared like a luminous disc; that changing apparent outline does not establish that a second craft arrived.
A DPA dispatch carried through the Gazette de Lausanne and reproduced in Combat on October 13 provides a contemporary published source for the claim. Later catalogues and videos vary in the date, proportions and whether the craft is simply called a disc. These are retellings of Hoge's account, not additional witnesses. The reconstruction retains the reported cigar, four suited figures and primary observer while leaving their unseen anatomy unspecified.
