Case description

The Bourrasole account was reported in Toulouse on 13 October 1954 at about 19:35. Olivier, Perano and a third young observer described a reddish spherical or disc-like appearance on vacant ground and a short figure in a shiny diving suit. Later catalogues standardized it into a four-metre disc, a metre-twenty occupant with a large head and enormous eyes, and a misty glow around the supposed machine. The witnesses said one of them tried to approach and felt unable to move at roughly twenty metres. The object allegedly departed very rapidly, in some versions throwing the nearest observer down. Those details belong to the reported interpretation. A subsequent Samedi-Soir article claimed responsibility for staged Martian encounters in Toulouse and other towns. Accounts of the journalists’ method describe a car, a diving costume and fireworks, rather than an actual spacecraft or nonhuman visitor. Michel Carrouges associated this particular report closely with that press prank; Rogerson and Patrick Gross also identify the journalistic hoax attribution. Some UFO writers disputed whether the prank explained the witnesses’ full descriptions, so the disagreement is retained. It does not justify presenting the encounter as unqualified extraterrestrial evidence. The illustration reconstructs the documented prank account: observers, a costumed human and an ordinary car with theatrical reddish illumination. It is explicitly labeled as a press-prank reconstruction, without silently converting the claimed disc or paralysis into established physical facts.

This retells the original Bourrasole claim. Samedi-Soir journalists described staging Martian encounters with a costume, car and pyrotechnics; Carrouges and later cataloguers associate Bourrasole with that prank. The video omits that attribution, which some UFO writers disputed. The film retells the claimed event; preserve the Atlas narrative’s source criticism, uncertainty and later explanations.
