Chabeuil entity encounter — 1954

Lucette, or Mimi, Leboeuf's Chabeuil account is generally assigned to Sunday, September 26, 1954. Other published versions give September 28 or 29, with afternoon hours also varying. She was visiting family and walking near a field and acacia hedge when her dog Dolly began barking. She initially took the small form attracting the dog for a scarecrow. Leboeuf described a figure a little over one metre tall, enclosed in transparent, cellophane-like clothing with a bell-shaped head covering. Its face looked human, with somewhat larger eyes; no arms were apparent. Frightened, she hid in a hedge. In the first-person press account, the figure was gone when she looked again, and a flat circular object then rose from behind the corn, tilted and departed with whirring or whistling sounds. Directly observed boarding is not established by that sequence. Later visitors described flattened vegetation and damaged branches, but no recovered craft material or burned debris. Other people reportedly heard barking or whistling or saw an aerial object; that does not make them witnesses to the figure. Later misinterpretation claims and Figuet's supporting reinvestigation remained disputed. Medical-sounding accounts of shock or fever are reported aftermath, not evidence of a demonstrated physical mechanism. The plate is explicitly a phase composite, showing the earlier figure and later craft together without pretending that simultaneous view was documented.
