La Roulerie roadside figure — October 1, 1954

The La Roulerie account concerns two businessmen, Estier and Phélipeau or Phelippeau, returning by car from Royan toward Saint-Jean-d’Angély in Charente-Maritime on an October 1954 evening. Most catalogues assign October 1, while the time varies between eight and ten o’clock. Patrick Gross’s source comparison traces the short narrative through regional reporting and subsequent catalogue entries. The men reportedly saw a small humanlike figure cross the road in front of their vehicle. They stopped, then watched its silhouette disappear into woodland. No landed object, unusual vehicle, communication, physical contact or extraordinary manner of departure was described. The surviving outline does not supply dependable facial features, clothing, height measurements or an established reason for regarding the figure as nonhuman. Barthel and Brucker’s 1979 re-examination says the witnesses acknowledged that their observation could have been mistaken. Suggestions of an owl or a disguised child remain proposed explanations, rather than demonstrated identifications. La Roulerie, Bignay and Saint-Jean-d’Angély labels can also create duplicate-looking records. The plate therefore shows two representative men at a period car and a small indistinct roadside silhouette, with no invented spacecraft. Its caption keeps the identification uncertain instead of presenting a confirmed alien occupant.
