Lewarde entity encounter — 1954
Lewarde, France
Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
On October 22, 1954, an entity encounter was reported in the Lewarde area of northern France, with a duplicate catalogue entry locating the observation in or near Erchin Wood south of Lewarde. The setting was a rural woodland landscape during the intense French wave of autumn 1954.
The surviving Atlas summaries agree that a humanoid or apparently living figure was the central anomaly. They do not, however, preserve a sufficiently complete witness statement to establish dependable details of its face, clothing, proportions or movements. The catalogue records also leave the exact viewing distance and duration uncertain.
The witness apparently saw the figure near the trees and later reported the experience as extraordinary. No authenticated photograph, trace sample or contemporary instrument record accompanies the entry, and the current packet does not justify adding a landed craft, communication or hostile action.
The event remains classified CE3 because the reported figure, rather than a distant light, defines the case. The portrait shows only a partially obscured silhouette in the documented woodland setting. This keeps the case visible while making the limits of the surviving evidence explicit. It is an illustrative reconstruction, not evidence.
