Case description
Contemporary French newspapers date Antoine Mazaud’s Mouriéras encounter to 10 September 1954, generally around 20:30. Returning from his fields near Bugeat in Corrèze, he reportedly met an average-height stranger on a path about fifteen hundred metres from home. The man wore helmet-like headgear without earflaps, made friendly gestures, shook Mazaud’s hand and embraced him. Reports differ over whether any words were spoken or understood.
Mazaud associated the stranger with an unlit, cigar-shaped object roughly three to four metres long near the brush. He said it rose vertically and departed westward with little noise. Newspapers also linked a red-disc sighting near Limoges to the story, but that geographical association does not establish that both observers saw the same object. Gendarmes interviewed Mazaud and reportedly found no traces at the site.
The inherited text abruptly appends cyclists approaching an orange honeycomb-like object and a diving-suited figure. That fragment is not part of Mazaud’s documented sequence and has been excluded from this reconstruction. The plate preserves his humanlike helmeted visitor and small cigar-shaped craft. It does not turn the visitor into a visibly nonhuman alien or treat the friendliness as proof of extraterrestrial origin.
