Case description
Contemporary mid-October 1954 press carried a story from woods near Saint-Ambroix in the Gard. Several hunters supposedly encountered seven very small humanlike figures. As the hunters approached, the figures ran into a phosphorescent object, which departed immediately. Dates vary between 13 and 14 October in later references, and the witnesses' names and precise observation time are not securely preserved.
The story also claimed that unusual seed-like objects remained where the figures had stood and that seed merchants could not identify them. No authenticated specimens, photographs, laboratory results or detailed descriptions of the figures and vehicle accompany the recovered reporting chain. The unidentified-seed motif should therefore remain an allegation, not a scientific finding or proof of nonterrestrial biology.
Later French source comparisons identify the episode as a hoax involving a seed merchant and hunting friends, citing a 16 October Midi Libre notice and subsequent investigations. Some accounts differ about who invented it, so the attribution and its source trail remain explicit. The plate illustrates the original story, labelled with that qualification: seven minimally specified figures, an unresolved luminous object and illustrative hunters. It adds no elaborate alien anatomy or laboratory evidence.
