Case description
Three motorists from Bordeaux reportedly encountered a reddish aerial object near Taupignac, on the Royan–Breuillet road, at about 7:30 p.m. in October 1954. They first described it as a round object with a luminous red dome, apparently several metres across, at a distance of roughly 200–300 metres. It moved or disappeared behind nearby woodland.
Two men went toward the clearing with a flashlight while the third remained by the car. After an approach of approximately 400 metres, the pair claimed to see four figures about a metre tall moving beside the object. When the observers were about fifteen metres away, the figures reportedly returned inside. The object then emitted a brilliant, changing blue, orange and red light and rose rapidly. Detailed faces and clothing were not recorded.
The motorists were not named in the recovered source trail. Patrick Gross's comparison identifies conflicting October 4 and October 11 dates; an October 11 occurrence cannot fit a cited October 10 newspaper report. The dossier also questions the anonymous-letter provenance. These limitations warrant treating the episode as an unverified story with a disputed chronology, rather than converting its catalogue repetition into an independently corroborated landing.
