Case description
The contemporary Huy report survives in an International News Service roundup reproduced from The Muncie Evening Press of October 11, 1954. A rural postman near Huy, Belgium, said he approached a cigar-shaped flying object that climbed away. He claimed to distinguish approximately human-shaped silhouettes aboard it. The short press passage supplies neither his name nor an exact village, event time or duration.
Later catalogues assign October 9 and specify two silhouettes, citing Vallée’s Magonia entry 213 and Le Figaro. That later precision must be separated from what the recovered press actually establishes. Likewise, a landing, open hatch or conversation cannot be reconstructed simply because subsequent summaries call the report a close encounter. No detailed clothing, face, anatomy or instrument record appears in the available passage.
INTCAT attributes a later hoax assessment to Jacques Bonabot, but its underlying investigative evidence was not recovered here. The plate is therefore labelled as a press claim, with an anonymous representative postman, complete elongated object and two indistinct humanlike silhouettes following the later count. Its viewing opening, craft surface and landscape are interpretive choices. Neither the claim nor the later dismissal is presented as a demonstrated event outcome.
