Case description
The Boisseuges story is a 1955 catalogue account, not an event from August 2024 as the imported date field suggests. Vallée’s listing places it on 16 September 1955 at approximately 18:00 near Boisseuges in Haute-Loire. Later accounts name the young shepherd as Mr. Frigoul and place the scene near Mont Saint-Eble in the Chavaniac-Lafayette area. The original interview was not recovered.
The shepherd allegedly heard a whistling sound, saw a dark mass descend and was knocked down by a rush of air. He described a round machine approximately three-and-a-half metres across and two metres high, brightly illuminated like fluorescent lighting. An opening revealed steps, and two occupants emerged. One reportedly had a bald head, a reddish face and very fine small teeth. They gathered plants, returned inside and departed. Later versions disagree between northwest and northeast for the departure direction.
The case entered widely circulated literature through Vallée’s personally attributed information and subsequent retellings. Figuet and Ruchon said no investigation had been carried out, and Figuet later included it among very doubtful cases because the information was meagre. That is a source-quality assessment, not a recovered confession. The illustration therefore labels it a sparse, uninvestigated report. It keeps the shepherd, two figures, plant gathering and entire small craft together while leaving unreported heights, clothing and most facial anatomy as explicit artistic approximations.
