Case description
Late on 25 August 1955, Bill Wallace, Cleophas Strange, Marlene McLeaster and Donna Meiers reported a disturbing encounter near a parked car in Winton Woods, Ohio. Strange drew attention to something behind them. The press account reproduced by Patrick Gross describes Wallace seeing a green figure about three-and-a-half to four feet tall approach in unusually long steps. Meiers described a dark green sheen, close-fitting clothing, a round head with a fuzzy covering and large yellow eyes with dark centres.
Wallace drove away and the group reported the incident to Greenhills police. Patrolman Ralph Conlon recorded a short green man and an associated smell. Returning to the site, officers found a skunk. The teenagers disputed that as an explanation, saying the smell was noticed only on the return visit, not during their encounter. A nearby prankster, Albert Snapp, admitted frightening neighbours in green-dyed underwear but denied leaving his own neighbourhood; his involvement in this episode was not established.
The four described no UFO. A separate police report of a distant moving glow toward Fernald provides no demonstrated connection to the figure. Later catalogue versions condense the encounter to a luminous being near a fireplug and differ over the date and time. Gross's newspaper attribution also conflicts with his next-day reporting description, so the press date needs checking. The plate follows the fuller figure description while retaining the disputed explanation and omitting an invented craft.
