Case description
The record labelled Kabul concerns a secondhand report from northern Afghanistan, rather than a documented entity encounter in the capital. The surviving three-page Project Blue Book file contains an Air Force record card and cables from the American air attaché. One cable relays Bakhtar News reporting varied aerial objects around Afghanistan. Another passes on a message attributed to the governor of Kataghan province about an alleged landing near Takala, between Khanabad and Baghlan.
The governor's message describes a metallic, saucer-shaped object with small thick glass windows around its leading edge. Its stated measurement is fifteen metres in circumference, not fifteen metres in diameter. Afghan authorities were reportedly attempting to arrange transport to Kabul for the defence minister. The attaché did not say he had inspected it: the cable proposes an aerial search and an attempt to confirm the information. No occupants, recovered bodies or direct American examination are described.
The record card dates the report to January 24, 1956 and explicitly records insufficient information and no follow-up. The third cable, however, types January 24, 1955 in its governor-message line; this discrepancy should remain visible rather than being silently corrected. Authenticity of a government document establishes that a report was transmitted, not that its subject was verified. The contextual plate therefore shows receipt of a report, with no claimed recovery scene or invented beings.
