Case description
The closest recoverable detailed account places this story near Nashville, Kansas, on a return journey from Sawyer to Wichita in 1956 or 1957. It was submitted to NUFORC in January 2023, decades after the alleged event. The account specifically names Highway 42, Isabel and Nashville, providing a detailed Kansas route for the childhood journey. The imported description calls the child a boy and the object a glowing disc, while the recovered report is less secure about the childhood detail and describes the mother’s later statement as a long silver cigar.
The narrator remembered leaving the grandmother’s house around 7 p.m. with the intention of being home by 9. Between Isabel and Nashville, there may have been an unusually elevated heat-haze appearance beside the road, but the writer explicitly expressed uncertainty about that impression. The child then recalled suddenly sleeping and waking in the stopped car in a pasture near cottonwood trees. The mother also woke and said she had taken a detour. Once back on the road, she reportedly explained that an object had chased the car while her efforts to wake the child failed.
Arrival home at 11: 30 p.m. led the narrator to infer about two and a half missing hours. This is a late autobiographical recollection with an approximate year, not a contemporary timing log or proof of abduction. No beings or craft interior appear in the childhood sequence. The same submission includes a separate 1977 experience; it should not be inserted into the 1950 s drive. The plate explicitly combines the car occupants with the mother’s reported cigar-shaped object, rather than implying the child independently saw the pursuit.
