Case description
Vallée’s Panorama City listing says three witnesses independently claimed to see a huge ball-shaped object and three tall, long-haired blond figures in close-fitting green suits on 20 July 1956. It cites Donald Hanlon’s discussion in The Humanoids, but supplies no witness names, addresses, duration or sequence of independent interviews. The short entry alone cannot establish that the witnesses were together or that their reports were independently verified.
A related, fuller HUMCAT entry describes a Panorama City housewife identified as Mrs. M.J. on the afternoon of 19 July. She said a steel-like ball landed in her rose garden and three approximately six-foot men with shoulder-length blond hair and green ski suits emerged, claiming to come from Venus. Investigator Idabel Epperson found that she was claiming repeated visits and became convinced it belonged to the Todd Kittredge hoax cluster. Related Van Nuys claims were likewise assessed as hoaxes, including a Blue Book classification for Kittredge.
The day and witness-count differences mean these accounts should not automatically be declared identical. Nevertheless, the documented negative assessment is essential context for the apparently unqualified three-witness digest. No verified Venusian origin, recovered craft or authenticated independent encounter was established. The illustration follows only the brief listing’s ball, three blond green-suited figures and three representative viewing positions. It labels the scene a catalogue composite and the related claims as judged hoaxes, avoiding invented dialogue, shared witness location or certainty about identity.
