Case description

Later summaries date this encounter to the night of 10 October 1957 near Quebra Coco on a journey toward Ceres, Brazil. Miguel Espanhol, described as a naval officer, and a companion were travelling by truck when a brilliant object illuminated the countryside and descended. The truck’s engine allegedly stopped. Regional identifications and the distinction between landing and low hovering vary across retellings. The object was described as an oval or lens, estimated at over 150 metres across, with a dome and a long aerial bearing a red light. Its bright exterior lighting then went out. An opening revealed a red interior, where seven small, otherwise humanlike figures with shoulder-length hair and partly luminous clothing appeared successively. They reportedly watched the truck for about three minutes. Some later accounts add a perceived peaceful message; this is attributed interpretation, not independently verified communication. Afterwards, the large object allegedly released a smaller disc, the two departing in opposite directions. The plate isolates the earlier hovering and open-hatch phase rather than placing the release at the same instant. The source chain includes Brazilian UFO bulletins and English-language retellings, with original documents still incomplete. The seven figures retain the reported long hair and humanlike appearance.
