Case description
At about 16:00 on Thursday, November 21, 1957, grocer Hans Haugaard Hansen was driving from Gesten toward Egholt in South Jutland to collect supplies. Near the Gesten forest, he noticed an unfamiliar device moving over a turnip field owned by parish council chairman Robert Andersen.
At first Hansen thought he was seeing a tractor fitted with a transparent cab. As he drew closer, the object's movement and shape no longer fit that explanation. He stopped his delivery car and left its engine idling while he watched from an estimated distance of 150–200 metres.
Hansen described a vehicle about three metres tall and shaped like a pyramid. Its material reminded him of semi-transparent glass, and it gave off a faint reddish-orange glow. Through the translucent structure he could see two figures sitting motionless. They appeared entirely human; the account does not describe unusual heads, skin or clothing.
The object moved without any sound that Hansen could hear, at a speed he estimated around 60–70 kilometres per hour. It travelled toward a low hill. He thought it may have landed there or hovered roughly a metre above the ground for about a minute, but he did not claim certainty.
The pyramid then continued toward the bog near Gesten and disappeared from view. After finishing work, Hansen returned to the area and searched the field for marks or material. He reported finding no physical trace.
Other people in South Jutland reported unusual objects at approximately the same time. Two witnesses near Jordrup described an object gliding close to the ground, rising over a fence and lowering into a depression, with a bright light underneath and a faint hum. At Vorbasse, Niels Poder, his wife and Amalie Nielsen saw a low-flying luminous form compared with a T or cross for about ten minutes.
Those parallel reports are important, but they should not be merged into a single composite craft. The Jordrup object's light and sound differed from Hansen's silent reddish pyramid, while the Vorbasse witnesses described another geometry. The reports may concern related activity, separate objects or ordinary stimuli interpreted differently; the evidence does not settle the relationship.
The newspaper Vestkysten interviewed Hansen and the other witnesses on November 22. Hansen also contacted police. Investigators located two additional people said to have been in the area: one noticed nothing unusual, and another heard something resembling a heavily loaded cargo aircraft but saw no strange object. The Danish Air Force reportedly replied that no aircraft or helicopters were operating in the area at the time.
On February 13, 1958, Dansk Familieblad published an article by Kjeld Hjorth Christiansen about the sightings. Its extraterrestrial framing went beyond Hansen's own uncertainty. The witness described what he saw but did not claim to know that it came from another world.
The Atlas assigns CE3 because Hansen reported seeing two occupants through the transparent object. It preserves the named witness, prompt newspaper coverage, police inquiry, null witnesses and his unsuccessful trace search without treating any one detail as proof.
The portrait reconstructs Hansen's observation only: one grocer beside his idling 1957 delivery car, looking across a turnip field at a faintly glowing transparent pyramid with exactly two seated human-looking occupants. It does not combine the separate Jordrup or Vorbasse objects into the scene. It is an illustrative reconstruction, not documentary evidence.
