Case description
In January 1958, a motorist on or near the New York State Thruway at Depew reported a close nighttime encounter beside the snowy roadway. The surviving catalogue account describes a low unusual object and an upright figure nearby.
The being was characterized as insect-like, with a narrow body, unusual head and appendages that witnesses interpreted as antennae. The description is striking but depends on a brief observation through darkness and winter conditions.
The motorist continued away from the scene and later reported the experience. Published catalogues preserve the event, but the accessible record does not provide the depth of a police file, photograph or instrument reading. No occupant, artifact or trace was recovered.
Road workers, unusual protective clothing, roadside equipment, animals and visual distortion have been proposed as categories of explanation. The current source packet is too limited to choose among them.
CE3 is retained because a figure was reported in direct association with an object. The portrait keeps both distant and ambiguous, avoiding anatomy not secured by the text. It is an illustrative reconstruction.
