Casino vehicle-interference pursuit — January 13 1958

At about 11:45 p.m. on January 13, 1958, 21-year-old Brian Crittenden left a property near Casino, New South Wales, and saw a dome-shaped light with a long narrow illuminated section underneath approaching from the east. He entered his car and drove toward Casino. The object followed for several miles at an estimated distance of about fifty yards and an altitude near thirty feet, while the car radio developed interference whenever it approached. Although Crittenden drove at approximately sixty-five to seventy miles per hour, the object overtook the car, hovered briefly, and repeatedly swooped low over the roof. After following him for roughly seven miles and about fifteen minutes, it was lost among the lights of Casino. Air traffic control reported no low-flying aircraft in the area.
