Case description
An unnamed agronomist and his family reportedly encountered a landed disc near Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, on November 10, 1954. They were travelling by car when they noticed the object. The accessible accounts do not establish the time of day, precise road, duration or dimensions of the disc, and they do not name the family members.
Two men of normal human height allegedly emerged and walked toward the car with their arms raised. They had long hair and wore clothing compared with coveralls. The driver became frightened and accelerated away. In versions collected by Coral and Jim Lorenzen and later Vallée, the family then saw the men return to the disc, which rose and departed very rapidly. Gordon Creighton’s retelling identifies the other passengers as the witness’s wife and daughter, who urged him to leave.
The case is preserved principally through later ufology literature. Patrick Gross identifies a secure book publication in 1962 but could not locate an original report or documented investigation. Repetition by subsequent catalogues therefore should not be counted as independent corroboration. The reported figures were human-looking; nothing in the surviving description supports adding oversized eyes, unusual skin, weapons or a spoken message. The illustration reconstructs only the approach beside the family car, with contextual lighting and surroundings.
