Case description
Amerigo Lorenzini, a 48-year-old farmer at Isola di Ortonovo near La Spezia, reportedly went outside to feed twelve rabbits on a November 1954 evening. A source reproduced by Giorgio Pattera dates the incident November 11 at 19:45; other retellings use November 14. Lorenzini described a swishing sound overhead followed by dazzling light. As the glare diminished, he saw a luminous cigar-shaped object in a nearby meadow.
Three very small figures reportedly emerged through a side door. Their metallic diving-type suits covered their faces, and their speech was unintelligible. They approached the rabbit hutch. Lorenzini ran inside, warned his wife and daughters to stay put, and fetched his hunting gun. He said it failed twice, became unbearably heavy, and that he could no longer call out.
According to his account, the figures carried away the entire hutch with its rabbits and departed in the object toward Avenza. His movement and voice returned, and the gun subsequently fired. People called afterward reportedly confirmed the missing hutch but found no landing trace. That is not independent confirmation of how it disappeared. The story survives through ufological compilations, and the claimed weapon and physiological effects remain untested. The plate depicts the approach to the hutch, with opaque suit faces and healthy animals, without inventing visible alien features.
