Petare / Caracas hairy-dwarf encounter
PETARE, VNZ, CAR, Venezuela
Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
At about 02:00 on November 28, 1954, Gustavo González and José Ponce were driving a truck near Petare, east of Caracas, Venezuela. Their route was interrupted by a luminous spherical object hovering low enough to block the road. They estimated it at roughly three metres in diameter and about two metres above the ground.
The men stopped. González got out and moved closer to investigate while Ponce remained near the truck. A small hairy figure approached González from the roadside. It was about one metre tall, with very bright eyes, claw-like hands and a compact body.
González attempted to seize the figure. He said it felt surprisingly light but possessed extraordinary strength and a hard, resistant body. The being broke free and threw him several metres across the road.
González drew a knife and tried to defend himself. According to his account, the blade glanced away as though it had struck a hard surface. The Atlas does not depict the stabbing action or assume the figure's body was literally metallic; it retains the witness's comparison.
While the struggle unfolded, Ponce reported seeing two additional similar beings emerge from vegetation beside the road. They carried stones, soil or other material toward the hovering sphere, behavior later interpreted as sample collection. The exact nature of what they carried was never independently analyzed.
A fourth being reportedly appeared at an opening in the spherical object with a tube-like device. An intense light from the tube struck González and temporarily blinded, stunned or disabled him. The small figures then entered the sphere, which departed rapidly.
The men sought help soon afterward. Contemporary Venezuelan press accounts and later catalogues describe both witnesses as extremely agitated. González was reported to have scratches or contusions, but the accessible dossier does not include complete medical photographs, examination notes or material recovered from the scene.
The story was reported through Caracas newspapers and police-related channels during the 1954 wave. That prompt reporting is important evidence for the history and early form of the account. Police awareness does not amount to official confirmation of the beings or object's origin.
Later retellings differ on the number of figures, their clothing, weight and precise sequence. The best-developed narrative implies four: the figure who struggled with González, two carrying samples and one at the craft opening. Another imported abstract compresses the scene to three. The Atlas preserves that count conflict rather than treating it as additional witnesses or creatures.
The case is classed CE3 because two named witnesses reported multiple beings associated with a close hovering object. Its dramatic elements, early press history and immediate search for help make it a major 1954 encounter narrative, but no surviving physical evidence presented here determines what occurred.
The portrait uses the best-developed four-being sequence: Ponce beside the stopped truck, González thrown backward by one small hairy figure, two others carrying roadside samples and a fourth directing intense light from the sphere's opening. It avoids blood, visible stabbing and abduction. It is an illustrative reconstruction, not documentary evidence.
