Case description
A bright-object story from Coronel Pringles, Buenos Aires province, appeared in the Argentine press in December 1954. The Atlas dates it December 14, but the contemporary newspaper account reproduced in later research places the encounter on December 4, around 6–7 a.m. The witness’s name also varies between early reporting and later interviews.
The early version describes a luminous disc near the ground, approached to within roughly 70–80 metres. A small, large-headed figure was said to move inside the bright object before it rose and departed. Much later, investigator Roberto Banchs located shopkeeper Américo Rodolfo Aguirrezabala. His recollection instead described a much larger, translucent reddish object at greater altitude, with three human silhouettes, and a different departure direction.
These versions should not be fused into one detailed encounter. Banchs considered a solar optical phenomenon, or parhelion, as a possible explanation; that interpretation is distinct from establishing what the witness saw. No independently authenticated photograph or material sample accompanies the account used here. The plate follows the early press version, with one indistinct large-headed occupant inside the glow, while its month-only title preserves the unresolved date discrepancy.
