USS Rose Atlantic object pacing the troopship — April 25 1958

At about 7:00 p.m. on April 25, 1958, a serviceman aboard the troopship USS Rose went topside for a cigarette while the ship was returning from Germany across the Atlantic. Two other servicemen were already discussing an unusual object; one said he had reported it and had been told not to talk about it. Looking at the stars, the witness saw one point of light begin to move and then stop abruptly. For about an hour, the object repeatedly moved at great speed, stopped instantly, and appeared to maintain a tracking position relative to the ship. When the witness tried to discuss it with the other two men, they refused to speak further.
