Cazeres, FR being encounter — August 1955

An account collected by Roger Gayral in 1976 described an unusual observation in Cazères during August 1955. Around 10 p.m., Mme Dejean was fastening her bedroom window when she saw two objects in a meadow beyond the lane, near the Ayguecau brook. They resembled eggshells and displayed attractive multicolored lights. Two bald-headed figures, estimated around ninety centimeters tall, stood nearby. She called her husband, who also watched before taking his rifle and going to alert neighbors. Their dog barked, and the objects allegedly left rapidly. The neighbors, Mr. and Mme Araignon, saw only two reddish points receding southward. Metallic droplets resembling melted aluminum were later said to form two rings, each roughly two to three meters across. Subsequent grass growth reportedly differed inside those rings, but no surviving sample or laboratory result was verified. The long reporting delay is central. M. Dejean had died before Gayral’s inquiry, and Mme Dejean then remembered little beyond the colored lights. Much of the fuller sequence came from neighbor Mme Araignon, who had visited the alleged site after the event rather than observing the occupants herself. Repetition in later catalogues does not remove that limitation. The plate depicts the original window observation, keeping the beings’ unrecorded faces and clothing indistinct and treating the reported aluminum resemblance as a comparison rather than an identification.
