In September 1955, eight-year-old Richard Price reported an encounter near a cemetery in Troy, New York. Later accounts describe a noise that drew him toward a wooded clearing, where he saw humanoid figures. Price said he tried to leave but lost control of his movements and was taken aboard their craft. The Hatch index gives an afternoon time; published versions of his recollection describe an evening encounter.
Price recalled being restrained on a table while a device passed over his body. He said the occupants inserted a small object beneath his skin, using a needle-like instrument connected to other equipment. He remembered seeing an enlarged view of the procedure on a screen and being instructed to leave the object alone. This account became part of the continuing experiences he described as an adult.
Years later, Price said an object had worked its way out of his body. A portion was supplied to Massachusetts Institute of Technology physicist David Pritchard for examination, and the episode was discussed at the 1992 MIT abduction conference. Patrick Huyghe's 1995 report described biological material and fibers in the examined sample. Price continued to connect it with his childhood encounter. The childhood recollection, the later recovered object and the laboratory examination are successive parts of the case history.
Price’s childhood recollection, the object he later said emerged from his body, and Pritchard’s laboratory examination are successive stages. Biological material and fibers were reported in the sample; analysis does not establish an extraterrestrial implant. The source’s afternoon time differs from later evening recollections.
