Case description
On a summer morning in 1956, at about 7 a.m., a woman identified as Mme L. reported meeting two small figures in the Marsois forest near Vitry-lès-Nogent, Haute-Marne. She was walking near the Pierre Alot dolmen and initially took them for children. As she approached, they stopped and turned toward her.
The fuller account describes robust figures about 1.2 metres tall, wearing close-fitting white coveralls, dark belts, black gloves and boots, and rounded black helmets with translucent visors. Their faces remained concealed. They did not answer her question and eventually walked into the vegetation. She continued gathering plants; anxiety and a racing heartbeat are described, rather than a documented lasting injury.
Lionel Danizel and other LDLN investigators subsequently collected the story. A later retelling identifies the original article as LDLN no. 205, May 1981, pages 18–22; the Hatch index reference differs. No flying object was observed. Suggestions that a craft could have occupied a nearby quarry were investigators’ speculation and are excluded from the plate. The reconstruction depicts the two helmeted figures and the witness, without inventing their faces or a vehicle.
