Near Ceres, Brz being encounter — October 10, 1957

On October 10, 1957, Miguel Espanhol and a companion travelling by truck toward Ceres, Goiás, reportedly encountered an intensely bright object near Quebra Coco. The light illuminated the countryside as the object descended, and the truck’s engine stopped. Later summaries sometimes turn Espanhol’s name into an assertion of Spanish nationality, which the source history does not securely support. The witnesses described an enormous oval or lens-shaped craft with a long projection above it and a red light at its tip. After its principal lights went out, an opening revealed a reddish interior and seven small, humanlooking occupants. They had long hair and partly luminous clothing, especially around the chest. They reportedly watched the men silently for about three minutes. The craft then rose and released a smaller disc. The small object went north while the larger one moved south. Accounts differ over whether the large craft landed or hovered near the ground, and its estimated dimensions vary considerably. The Atlas follows the low-hover version and treats the immense size as a witness estimate. The reported sequence contains no entry of either traveller into the craft.
