Case description
The Petrópolis story concerns an alleged event on October 25, 1957, described in an anonymous letter dated May 14, 1958. The writer, identified by the pseudonym Anázia Maria, said she worked for a family staying at a farm near Petrópolis while a young woman suffered from a serious stomach illness described as cancer.
According to the letter, strong light appeared outside the bedroom and a small disc landed near the house. Two short humanlike visitors entered while another remained at the craft. They reportedly had reddish-blond shoulder-length hair, unusual green eyes and thick white outfits with luminous areas. Household members, including a ten-year-old boy, were said to be present. The narrative goes on to describe an extraordinary treatment and a container of tablets, followed by a claimed recovery.
Journalist João Martins passed the letter to physician and UFO researcher Olavo Fontes. The account was published years later in Flying Saucer Review, and the hoped-for full investigation was not completed before Fontes's death. The family's identity, diagnosis and claimed cure are not established by accessible medical records. The plate reconstructs a calm scene before any alleged treatment, with the clothed patient and household, described visitors and craft; it does not depict surgery or certify a medical result.
