Stawell, Victoria, Australia
Open this case in the interactive AtlasCase description
At about 11:30 a.m. on a fine cloudless day, probably in the spring or summer of 1958, eleven-year-old Brad Mildern was leaving his family home in Stawell, Victoria, when he noticed a gleaming silver point hovering due west at roughly fifteen to twenty degrees elevation. After watching for several minutes, he called his parents. Neighbors then brought over a tripod-mounted four-inch telescope. Through it, the witnesses saw a flat-bottomed disc with a domed turret, vertically elongated windows with rounded tops, and three ball-like undercarriage protrusions. From beneath its center came a repeating sequence of blue, red, green, and white lights. The object remained stationary at an estimated distance of about ten kilometers and an estimated altitude of fifteen hundred to two thousand feet. The families watched it until after 1:00 p.m., nearly two hours in total. They gradually returned to other activities, and when Mildern next looked, the object was gone.
