Case description
A story dated to about 1880 places a British sentry on night duty at the military camp at Aldershot, England. He reportedly saw a human-sized figure moving or hovering above the ground near the guard area.
Later summaries describe a tight dark suit, rounded helmet and rigid posture. Some versions add an assault or electrical sensation, but the early source chain is thin and later catalogues do not agree on every detail.
The case predates modern aircraft and the flying-saucer era, making it attractive to collections of historical anomalies. That age is also its central weakness: no complete contemporary military report, named witness interview or preserved image is available in the Atlas packet.
A person in unfamiliar protective clothing, a prank, folklore or later retrospective construction are all possible. CE3 is retained because a humanoid figure is the core claim, not because the event is verified.
The portrait treats the story as Victorian military folklore: a sentry, gas lamps and an ambiguous hovering figure. No attack is shown. It is an illustrative reconstruction.
